TYGARTS VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL is located in Randolph County, 17 miles south of Elkins, in the small town of Mill Creek. We are a middle school - senior high school with a total student population of around 580 served by 40 faculty members and 11 support personnel. The school colors are red and white, and the mascot is the bulldog.

Tygarts Valley opened its doors for the first time in 1923-24 as a three-story building to house what had previously been the Huttonsville District High School. That first academic year saw a graduating class of 27. In 1950 additional classrooms and the gymnasium were completed. We now graduate an average of 70 students each year.

In the 1970s an annex was built behind the gym and an 8 classroom junior high section was added. As we look to the future, we are very excited and optimistic. Construction has been completed to replace the original 75-year-old section of the school. We moved into the new building in the fall of 2001. Technologically upgraded, our school is equipped with computers and the internet, affording our students the needed preparation to enter the fast-paced, global society of the turn of the century.
