Administrative procedures for
releasing students at a bus stop other than their regular bus stop during normal
transportation runs
Any student who wants to be released at a
bus stop other than his/her regular bus stop during normal transportation runs
must:
-
Submit a written note to the office prior to noon of the day of
the event
-
The written note may be delivered to the office by the parent,
student(s), or any person listed on the student's emergency procedure card or
it may be faxed to the school by noon of the day for which the request is
made.
-
Written notes may be faxed by noon
-
Elementary school students may give the note to the teacher who
will be responsible for getting it to the office.
Upon receipt of the written note, the designated staff will:
-
Confirm that the person writing the note has the authority to
do so.
-
Maintain a log of students using an alternative bus stop that
includes the student's name, date of the event, bus number riding that day,
student WVEIS number, and the staff member's initials who approved the
alternate stop.
-
Administrators or designees must approve the alternate bus
and/or stop.
-
Sign the bus note, date it, and give the approved note to the
student to give to the bus driver.
-
Bus driver will maintain bus notes for their bus for the entire
school year.
Other considerations:
During emergency evacuations, only notes
approved prior to the emergency evacuation will be accepted. Note: sporting
events scheduled to occur on the day of an emergency evacuation will be handled
using the same procedures as a two hour early dismissal.
During two hour early dismissals, the
procedure listed on the emergency procedure card will be followed. Notes will
not be accepted once the dismissal has been announced. Only notes approved prior
to the notifications of early dismissals will be accepted. Bus drivers will be
given a dismissal form indicating student's bus number and drop off as indicated
on the emergency procedure card if it is different than the student's normal
transportation route.
Normal transportation is defined as
transportation of students to and from school on school buses on instructional
days using established bus transportation routes.
