Mrs. Patsy Nelson was born in Elkins, WV. She attended Randolph County Schools and graduated in the Class of 1969 from Elkins High. She graduated with a B.A. in education from Cum Laude Fairmont State College in 1971. She later finished her M.A in education at WVU in 1973. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and Alpha Delta Dappa.

She began her teaching career in August of 1971 at Homestead and is still in the same room teaching the same grade. She specializes in Social Studies for grades 1-9 and Elementary Education from grades 1-8. To her, every year is a new beginning and a new challenge to instill the academics so necessary for the learning process.
