Purpose
The purpose of the Respect and Protect Program is to give students, parents, staff, and the community a clear understanding concerning our
school's stand against violent or disrespectful behavior and the consequences that will follow. This program coincides with the Student Code of Conduct from the
West Virginia Safe Schools Act.
Objectives
- To insure the safety of students and staff, their property, and the property of the school
- To maintain a safe, supportive, nurturing, nonpunitive school
- To provide an environment highly conducive to learning
Definitions
- VIOLENCE- Violence occurs whenever anyone harms, or threatens to harm, a person's body, feelings, or possessions.
- RESPECT- Respect is to feel or show honor for, or to show consideration or regard for a person's body, feelings, or possessions.
Statement of Policy
No one is entitled to be violent or disrespectful. No form of violence or disrespect will be tolerated from anyone at school, on school-sponsored transportation, or at school-sponsored activities.
