The Barbour County Board of Education met in regular session at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007, at the Board of Education Office, 105 South Railroad Street, Philippi, West Virginia.
Patrick Jones, President,
presided; Brian Kisamore, Greg Nestor, Jerry Phillips and Brad Robinson, Jr.,
Members, and Deede Lundeen, Secretary, were present. Also in attendance were: Jeff Kittle, Glenn Sweet, Elaine Benson, Jack Reger, Elaine Gray, Doug
Mills, Sharlene Mills, Ellen Propst, George Propst, Larry Leach, Karen Leach,
Thomas Delaney, Sandy Kines, Flo Wilkins, Susan DeLong, Judy Hodgkinson,
Douglas Schiefelbein, David Dodds, Anna Lou Stemple, Dana Stemple, Matthew
Bright, Shana Frey, Jerry Wilson, Ben Simmons, Larry Allen, Whitni Kines, Cami Watkins, Joe Nutter, Charlene McLean, Rick Daugherty,
Joseph Ferguson, James Poling, Woodrow Taft, John Hawkins and Lisa Lepsch.
Mr. Jones called the meeting to order at 5:30. Mr. Phillips led the pledge to the flag.
A reception was held for retirees who were recognized for their years of service to Barbour County Schools.
A motion was made by Mr. Robinson, seconded by Mr. Kisamore and passed five (5) to zero (0) to accept the addendum.
The following delegation representatives addressed the Board.
Richard Daugherty and Pete Ferguson regarding
a middle school wrestling program.
Tom Delaney from RESA VII regarding current
RESA services.
Cami Watkins and Lisa Davis
regarding out-of-zone attendance requests for Volga-Century and Belington
Elementary Schools.
Mr. Robinson made a
motion to approve the minutes of the May 21 and 29, 2007 meetings. The motion was seconded by Mr. Phillips and
passed five (5) to zero (0).
Mr. Robinson made a motion to adjourn into executive session (§6-9A-4(9)
at 7:35 to discuss individual student concerns.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Nestor and passed five (5) to zero (0).
A motion was
made by Mr. Phillips, seconded by Mr. Nestor and passed five (5) to zero (0) to
return to open session at 8:40 p.m.
Superintendent’s Recommendations –
1. Recommendation: In compliance with Attendance Policy J-3,
approve requests for out-of-zone attendance for school year 2007-2008
contingent upon compliance with pupil-teacher ratio.
