Superintendent’s Recommendations –

Attendance -

Business & Finance -

1.         Recommendation:  Approve the final total of the July 15, 2007 net payroll and related taxes and withholdings in the amount of $47,491.24 – Enclosure #3

2.         Recommendation:  Approve payment of bills for the period of July 10, 2007 through July 23, 2007 at a total expenditure of $81,266.89 - Enclosure #4

3.         Recommendation:  Authorize the July 28, 2007 payroll for all regular extended and special programs payroll and federal withholdings not to exceed the amount of $120,000.00 to be released in accordance with Federal Law.  (Refer to Enclosure #4)

4.         Recommendation:  Authorize the payment of utility bills due before next board meeting not to exceed $12,000.00.

5.         Recommendation:  Set the mileage reimbursement rate for FY2008 at the federal or WV state mileage rate – whichever is less - Enclosure #5
           
6.         Recommendation:  Award the paper bid to Ricoh for the 2007-2008 school year – Enclosure #6

7.         Recommendation:  Approve/Confirm use of buildings and/or grounds – Enclosure #7

            Belington Elementary School on August 4, 2007 – requested by Shon Weese for parking space
Belington Middle School on July 22, 2007 – requested by Rochelle Carpenter for Bridal Shower; on July 28, 2007 – requested by Karen Boone for Family Reunion
Mt. Vernon Elementary School on August 5, 2007 – requested by Linda McCord for Baby Shower.
           
Curriculum –

8.         Recommendation:  Approve the Chinese guest teacher program agreement for the 2007-2008 school year – Enclosure #8

Food Service –

9.         Recommendation:  Award the bid to U.S. Foodservice to provide storage and delivery of donated foods for the 2007-2008 school year – Enclosure #9

10.       Recommendation:  Award the bid to J&S Vending to provide nutritional snacks to all schools for the 2007-2008 school year – Enclosure #10

11.       Recommendation:  Award the bid to Coca-Cola to provide beverages countywide for vending machines for the 2007-2008 school year – (Refer to Enclosure #10)

12.       Recommendation:  Accept and approve resignation of Rex Freeman as Bus Operator Trainer. - Enclosure #11
           
13.       Recommendation:  Employ personnel as Title 1 Reading Instructors for the 2007-2008 school year effective August 22, 2007 contingent upon receipt of proper certification. – Enclosure #12

15.       Recommendation:  Employ Gerald Furby as Business Education Instructor at Philip Barbour High School for the 2007-2008 school year effective August 22, 2007.  – Enclosure #14

16.       Recommendation:  Employ Teresa Childers as Principal at Belington Elementary School (210 days) for the 2007-2008 school year.

17.       Recommendation:  Revise coach’s supplement to include Junior Varsity Football Coach at a rate of $1200.00 per year and Junior Varsity Cheerleading Coach at a rate of $1000.00 per year.

18.       Recommendation:  Adopt Revised Policy A-2.1, Racial, Sexual, Religious/Ethnic, Harassment and Violence Policy, on second reading.  Refer to Minutes of July
            9, 2007.

19.       Recommendation:  Adopt Revised Policy G-25, Extra Curricular Assignments and Compensation Policy, on second reading.  Refer to Minutes of July 9, 2007.

20.       Recommendation:  Adopt Revised Policy G-32.1, Employment of Retired Teachers in Areas of Critical Need and Shortage, on second reading.  Refer to Minutes of July 9, 2007.

21.       Recommendation:  Adopt New Policy J-16.1 & G-29.4, Cell Phone Usage, on second reading.  Refer to Minutes of July 9, 2007.
