Superintendent’s Recommendations –

 

Attendance -

 

1.         Recommendation:  In compliance with Attendance Policy J-3, approve requests for out-of-zone attendance for school year 2007-2008 contingent upon compliance with pupil-teacher ratio. – Enclosure B

 

Business & Finance -

 

2.         Recommendation:   Approve budget adjustments. – Enclosure C

 

3.         Recommendation:  Approve the final total of the January 15, 2008 net payroll and related taxes and withholdings in the amount of $519,486.22 – Enclosure D

 

4.         Recommendation:  Approve payment of bills for the period of January 10, 2008 through January 23, 2008 at a total expenditure of $354,047.92. - Enclosure E

 

5.         Recommendation:  Authorize the January 28, 2008 payroll for all regular extended and special programs payroll and federal withholdings not to exceed the amount of $770,000.00 to be released in accordance with Federal Law.  (Refer to Enclosure E)

 

6.         Recommendation:  Authorize the payment of utility bills due before next board meeting not to exceed $12,000.00. (Refer to Enclosure E)

 

7.         Recommendation:  Approve/Confirm fund raising activity requests as submitted (all candy sales will be done outside school hours) – Enclosure F

Philippi Middle School (Academic Boosters) – projected revenue $300.00

 

8.         Recommendation:  Approve/Confirm use of buildings and/or grounds – Enclosure G

 

Belington Middle School on February 2-3, 2008 – requested by Darlene Robinson for Pine Wood Derby.

Junior Elementary School on February 1, 2008 – requested by Kelly Blake for Family Movie Night.

Kasson School on June 14, 2008 – reqested by Barbara Godwin for Family Reunion; on March 18, 2008 – requested by Lucille Kines for Ruritan Club – Sports Banquet.

Mt. Vernon Elementary School on February 2, 2008 – requested by Cindy Payne for Baby Shower.

11.       Recommendation:  Approve early graduation for Jamie Mann student at Philip Barbour High School in order for her to attend an institution of higher learning for school year 2008-2009. – Enclsoure J

13.       Recommendation:  Accept resignation/retirement of Sandra Walker as Secretary at Belington Middle school effective June 30, 2008. – Enclosure L

 

14.       Recommendation:  Accept resignation of Stephanie Skidmore as Substitute Cook. – Enclosure M

 

15.       Recommendation:  Approve employment of Ashley Kelley as a substitute teacher. Employment is contingent upon clearance of any criminal convictions as defined in WV Codes §18-5-15c(d) and §15-2-24(d).  – Enclosure N

 

16.       Recommendation:  Accept resignation/retirement of Bradford Chitester as Teacher at Belington and Junior Elementary Schools effective May 20, 2008. – Enclosure O

 

17.       Recommendation:  Permit Fredericka Mitchell, student at University of Phoenix On-Line, to complete one hour of observation at Philippi Elementary School as part of her field experience. – Enclosure P

 

18.       Recommendation:  Approve Elaine Waugaman as a volunteer at the Philip Barbour Pre-K/Head Start. – Enclosure Q

 

19.       Recommendation:  Establish a substitute Accounts Payable Supervisor list and place Regeania Murphy on the list. – Enclosure R

 

20.       Recommendation:  Accept resignation of Rachel Domenico as assistant cheerleading coach at Philip Barbour High School. – Enclosure S

 

21.       Recommendation:  Accept resignation/retirement of Barbara Williams as Aide at Philippi Elementary School effective June 10, 2008. – Enclosure T

 

22.       Recommendation:  Employ personnel as Science Fair Coordinators for the period of February 14, 2008 through March 17, 2008.
